The realistic version of this video is the Warthog being blown up in the hangar in the first minute of the invasion.
I was the base weather station commander at the first A-10 base in NATO, RAF Woodbridge, in East Anglia. It was in 1978. Back then, sure. The Soviets had the ZSU's, and other quad AA guns. Now? I don't think so. Too many man-portable surface to air missiles. Our A-10's used to routinely smack into the top of the trees in Her Majesty's Rendleshem Forest. Oh..I was there for the UFO, too.
The first-person pilot is extraordinarly reckless — I don't think he would be allowed to fly an expensive plane like this!

Why didn't the tanks and ifvs shoot at you with their machine guns and autocannons? The A10 would be the right tool, though.
This is a Tarantino-level historical fantasy flick.
This mission is why the A-10 was born. The "titanium bathtub" was to keep the pilot alive over the convoy while hunting Shilkas, Gadfly and Gecko launchers. All of this while keeping an eye out for Grouse and/or Gimlet launches.
Out-runners hunt the AAA, while the Death or Glory boys casually stroll right down the line of the convoy, doing nice little pop-ups every now then to, continue their gun runs. Chaff and flares were expected to be depleted along with all other munitions.
Mixtures of Mk 81 Snakeyes w/ Mk 14 TRD, GBU-8/10/12, AGM-65, Mk 84, LAU and a few other toys. Mix in some fused air-burst, fused nose contact, with a sprinkling of WP and the traditional HE and you have yourself a party. For heavily defended, but vital bridges, you'd switch it up to a bunch of GBUs and glide bombs.

Depending on which scenario or battle plan estimate you read, a convoy of this size would have about 1/4 to 1/3 of its number comprised of AAA, just because Warthogs exist.
This was all expected to take place in West Germany in a place known as the Fulda Gap.
Life expectancy for A-10 pilots at that time was about 2 weeks.

When I was stationed in Bremerhaven Germany 1979 to 1981 with the USAF, we had A-10As from England bases practice on our three mobile radar units during training exercises. No fun looking at 30MM cannon coming at you. But, you knew the Russian would be looking at the same thing if the balloon went up.
A-10 would turn the Russians kt into instant scrap yards.
This would have been fun with A-4s at tree top height and clusters and dumb bombs
The second you took off, you would have been visible on radar. Russian planes would have been waiting for you and I'm guessing that they would have used multiple types of defense systems at the same time.

I'm not entirely convinced that convoy was ever really there. I reckon that at least 90% was just mock ups and inflatables. I mean, it seems to have disappeared rather quick. Sure, there would have been a handful of real vehicles moving up and down the column to make it look real. And a few hundred troops to look after things and to move the individual units a few feet to make it look like the column has moved, and reflate anything that has slightly deflated. Pure deception I reckon.
I certainly wish that Ukraine had a couple of squadrons of A-10s.

If the real fighters made the skies safe for them to fly in, A-10s could do a lot of damage.
SO…… here we are still being told the A-10 is obsolete against near peer adversaries and would be a sitting duck in a modern conflict against modern weapons….. I realize this is just a game, but I can't help but feel the A-10 demonstrates here pretty well that it can indeed succeed in a modern conflict against a top tier opponent.
There was a lot of Russians that got killed during that Convoy most of it was towards the front of the Convoy mostly by mlrs, artillery and anti-tank Rockets and a couple of helicopters were able to get a couple hits Russian really didn't use their cover by helicopters or their Jets as much as they should have and a lot of the vehicles ran out of gas or tires had popped so they ended up probably having to Dismount and hide in the local forest or town for cover until they were called back to diff locations
And as you seen from videos all over a lot of their anti-air units are not very well trained and we're getting knocked out by small drones, su-25 or artillery or even the famous bayraktar without even getting fired on

That flight sim looks absolutely top bollocks! I'd love to have enough spare money so that I could throw about £50K into a computer system, an old F4 Phantom cockpit and some hydraulics to make the best ever combat simulator at home! I'd REALLY have to be sure that the ejector seats were deactivated though! Bit embarrassing to end up ejecting while sitting in your back garden, and then realise that you aren't wearing a parachute!

The problem with any of YOUR scenarios is YOU have no practical battle field experience. Like most moderators and pretenders, you are a civi. You do not take into account other craft that can be used to supplement this type of attack. A-10s are not the only thing that can bushwhack a convoy. And defensive capabilities, you don't even bring up Growlers. I'd suggest you stick to video games. Not real ones.

Come come now; would there not be some electronic attack aircraft armed with HARM missiles jamming radars and killing SAM launchers/ radar sighted AAA? That ain't Iraq or Afghanistan you're up against. FFS; US has already sent 6 EA-18G Growler aircraft to Germany.
