WarGames – getting to know Joshua

A computer’s responses and voice aren’t “real”, merely derivatives of its programming. But this one seems able to do more than just spit out pre-determined answers to pre-determined questions. Even knowing it’s not “alive”, both David and Jennifer treat it somewhat like a precocious child.

Jennifer: “I think it missed him [Falken].”
David: “Yeah. Weird, isn’t it?”
