During a surprise nuclear attack drill, many of the United States Air Force Strategic Missile Wing controllers prove unwilling to turn the keys required to launch a missile strike. Such refusals convince John McKittrick and other NORAD systems engineers that missile launch control centres must be automated, without human intervention. Control is given to a NORAD supercomputer is known as WOPR (War Operation Plan Response, pronounced “whopper”), programmed to continuously run war simulations and learn over time.

  1. Glad the sound of incoming Armageddon is a klaxon, that's wonderfully silly

  2. David, he start the game because they are not real, it's just a game

  3. Kids eating nothing but junk food… but they're not fat; why is that?Only female in the ops room is the phone operator. If they made the same movie now, the black female phone operator would be cast as the commanding general, all officers would be female and all non-officers would be male.

  4. I really like the movie but how does a missile launch only get you to defcon 3?

  5. Legendary film! This is up there with E.T. and Back to the Future to me!

  6. It always kind of makes me laugh when it turns off and they are all confused

  7. STUND BY. Why the fuck does she sound like an 80 year old woman

  8. Dead giveaway that this was a fake: kid's computer suggests the Russian missiles are SS-20s with five warheads each. In reality, SS-20s had a maximum of three warheads and not enough range to reach Las Vegas.

  9. When I was a teenager, my favorite part of this scene was watching Ms. Crystal Palace run in a skirt and heels.

  10. I'm most likely within a niche that is most in favour of Ally Sheedy talking about Missile Tragedies.

  11. BTK comes running out of hiding to say it was a simulation and he still evaded capture for how long?

  12. Great 🍿 ✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️✈️🛫🛫🛫🛫 🛫🛫🛫🛫 🚢🚢🚢🚢🚢🚢🚢🚢🚢

  13. 3-10-22 Ukraine 🇺🇦 got me thinking of these movies 🎥

  14. I'm thinking the missile alert sound at 4 seconds should sound more threatening than what a small bird would sound like after five cups of coffee.

  15. did anyone else notice that, when the guy punched in the number to connect the Heneral to the President, the tone of the numbers went "Dun dun dun dun (Beethoven 's Fifth)?"

  16. Berringer saying about not running in there is a little weird because look at the earlier scenes before he comes in. You see people running around anyway.
